Invisalign® plastic aligners are an alternative to traditional metal braces needed by adult dental patients. If your teeth are crooked, or you have an overbite or underbite, you may be a candidate for Invisalign. The clear plastic aligners are difficult for others to see, may be removed when you need to for things like eating and brushing, as well as gently move misaligned teeth into a straight position.

How Invisalign Works

Your teeth and unique bite are first assessed by our Invisalign dentists and a computer image is created in order to come up with a treatment plan. Once this image is gathered, the first tray is made.

Using a series of aligners, Invisalign moves your teeth into their proper position. Although you may remove your aligners while eating or brushing and flossing your teeth, you should wear them at all times. Most patients will wear their aligners for around six weeks before a change is needed. However, you will return to the office for an evaluation every couple of weeks to see if you need a new tray based on the movement of your teeth. Your entire course of treatment may take only 12 months. Compare that to several years for traditional braces.
