When many people think of orthodontics, they think of obtrusive, uncomfortable metal braces. For years, traditional wire and bracket braces have been used to correct misaligned bites and restore function to crooked or misshapen teeth, but most older children and adults find the idea of these devices very unappealing.
For nearly a decade, Dr. Scott Dixon and Dr. Bill Boles, III have offered Invisalign, an effective, unnoticeable alternative to traditional braces. As a preferred Invisalign provider, your entire treatment can be performed in the comfortable Wilson, North Carolina office of Ham, Dixon & Boles. Call 252-291-2892 today for an orthodontic evaluation.
How Invisalgn Works
Invisalign is a series of clear, removable realignment trays. When you come to our office for Invisalign treatment, one of our dentists will make a careful assessment of your teeth and jaws with the help of computer imaging. Based on this information, a treatment plan will be determined, allowing all of your trays to be made at the same time.
Invisalign trays gently move your teeth into their correct position through a series of aligners. These aligners need to be worn at all times except when you are eating or cleaning your teeth. This part of the process is very important to ensure your procedure is as quick and effective as possible. Every two weeks, you will return to our office for an evaluation. If your teeth are ready for your next set of aligners, you will be provided with them during these visits. For most patients, the entire procedure takes around twelve months.
Invisalign offers patients over the age of 14 an ideal way to correct common malocclusions such as cross bite, under bite, and overbite. It can work to straighten crooked teeth, and bring your bite back into its proper position – restoring beauty and function in a short period of time. For patients interested in instant orthodontics, porcelain veneers may be an alternative to Invisalign. During your initial consultation with one of our experienced cosmetic dentists the solution that is best for you will be determined.
